Beware of fake degrees, UGC warns deemed universities

Students has to beware of fake degrees offered by deemed universities through unapproved programmes/courses. Taking it as a very serious issue University Grants Commission “UGC” has warned such universities. UGC sought a legal undertaking from vice chancellors of deemed universities to the effect that their institutions are not violating norms.

Addressing to the VC(s) of 127 deemed universities through letter, KP Singh joint secretary UGC said that deemed universities are not allowed to affiliate colleges/institutions without & it will be treated as violence of UGC guidelines. In addition to that UGC the apex regulatory body for higher education in India has said that any course under distance mode without the specific prior approval of a joint committee of the UGC, All India Council for Technical Education and the Distance Education Council, would not be conducted or commenced by deemed universities.
