Cabinet approves International University in India

Union cabinet approved money for setting up South Asian University in Delhi, 79% money of the total cost of establishing the university has been approved by the Union cabinet. The University was proposed by the Prime Minister during the SAARC Summit 2005 in Dhaka.

The process of acquiring the land about 100 acres near IGNOU campus, South Delhi has been started by foreign ministry. The institution will impart advanced knowledge and provide facilities for research. It will be a non-state and non-profit self-governing institution, the jurisdiction of which will extend all over India and to campuses and centers established in the SAARC region.
