Indira Gandhi National Open University has established its two regional centers at Nagpur city. The objective of setting up this (new) regional center at Nagpur is to focus its rays of education to the students & un-reached willing to education of the eastern part of the state of Maharashtra.

According to the regional center officials the 2nd regional center has to spread education & take care of the needs of the Vidarbha area having its jurisdiction over these 14 districts: Amravati Akola, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Yavatmal, Gondia, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Washim and Nagpur.
