Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University, Kota came into existence in the year 1987 at Kota city in Rajsthan. Earlier Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) was known as Kota Open University, renamed by Government of Rajasthan state on 21st September 2002. The objective of the University has to reach the untouched/professionals, house wives, resides of remote area of Rajasthan, willing to study; to spread education through distance learning.


Keeping in mind to strengthen and coordinate with a vast scope of distance education resources to provide uniform quality education to the people of Rajasthan; two institutions providing correspondence courses named Institute of Correspondence Studies and Continuing Education, Jaipur and College of Correspondence Studies, Udaipur has amalgate & The Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) came into existence.
